The Ball gown dress – this is the one we normally think about when we picture a fairytale wedding. The style features a fitted bodice with flairs out at the waist to a full skirt. This style will suit most any shape but is particularly good for pear shapes. If you are petite though it may swamp you.

The Trumpet dress – this dress is fitted through the body and flares out mid-thigh. It is ideal for small waists which include hourglasses, petites and banana shapes. Think again though if you are pear shaped as it will put emphasis on your tummy and hip area.

The Mermaid dress – this dress is fitted on the body and similar to the Trumpet but it flares out close to the knee. Slender figures and hourglass shapes as it will accentuate the curves but not great for apples and larger sizes.

The Sheath dress – a style that is very flattering for slender frames like petites and bananas. It features a narrow shape that flows all the way from the neckline to the hem at the ankle. The Sheath can be unflattering as it will show off extra inches and doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

The Tea-length dress – a perfect option for any body type and is such a classic, Hollywood look with a touch of nostalgic glamour. The skirt falls between the knee and ankle.

The Mini – this is an unique choice and one that you don’t see very often but if you want to make a statement then this could be the style for you. One to avoid for plus sizes though as it won’t look very flattering.

The A-line dress – a fitted bodice through the waist which then flows out to the ground and looks a bit like a capital A. A versatile dress that suits any body shape and is a very popular choice.

The Modified A-line – as above but flares out from the hips instead of the waist. The skirt of the modified A-line will sit slightly closer to the body than a normal A-line dress.
